Every Child Matters Orange Shirt - Youth

Product Description
Fundraising campaign - EVERY CHILD MATTERS for Orange Shirt Day.
I designed this screen printed shirt with the input of local Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and Indigenous educators. The Cree words roughly translate to mean "Every Child Matters." The dreamcatcher is meant to represent our awakening to this horror and, more importantly, our collective effort to help stop the nightmares that have persisted out of the residential school experience. Through Reconciliation, we can work toward alleviating the generational fallout that continues to occur.

Because this design is for a specific fundraising campaign, all proceeds minus costs will go to charity. In this case, funds will go to local Indigenous initiatives, such as the Core Neighbourhood Youth Coop and other organizations that benefit Indigenous Peoples. Feel free to share with me any other worthy initiatives you know of, as I'm always looking to add great causes to my list.

I design & create my own screens and then screen-print by hand.
Pictures shown are the youth size as well as an adult size using the same screen and black ink.

In case you're unfamiliar with Orange Shirt Day, it's a day at the end of September when Canadians wear orange to promote education and awareness about residential schools and the lasting effects those have had on Indigenous communities. Here are some links with the story of Phyllis Webstad and more information about the cause.
